About TourGuidesChile
In January of 2007, yours truly, Al Ramirez, a Private Tour Guide in Valparaíso, along with Rodrigo Vasquez (Now living in Canada), decide they need to help with Valparaíso's fast growing tourism industry. TourGuidesChile as an entity is born in September of 2007, and we begin by working with the main Universities in Chile, carrying out Tour Guide courses, as well as Restaurant Service courses, and teaching many Tourism & Hospitality majors what the industry of tour guides was about in our country.
In 2008, we meet other people who worked in our industry, who owned vehicles and had knowledge of several languages and began providing vehicle services to companies who were short on staff. We had also trained over 200 people by August of 2008, when Rodrigo gets a scholarship to work and study in Niagara Falls, Canada.
I took over TourGuidesChile, and began working as a Travel Consultant for Shore Excursion companies (Cruise ship specialists), and later study at the Sommelier School of Chile, whereI get my degree as a Sommelier.
Since then our wine tours have had a great success, as we always look for the best wine travel experiences; however, we never forget our roots as tour guides in Valparaíso and Santiago, so we also carry out historical and cultural tours.
As a New Yorker, I have my roots in the concrete jungle, so we are also working on alternative, Sub-Cultural tours, which means that we, as a team like to get to every angle of tourism.
In 2012, we merged with "South Excursions" and are now carrying out a "land tours" project, as they are one of the best Shore Excursion companies in Chile, and they needed to bring that great service "inland".
